Department Leadership

Jia Wei is the director of Geospatial Information Services (GIS), a division of the Mecklenburg County Land Use and Environmental Services Agency. He is responsible for overseeing the department's day-to-day operations, which consists of four diverse areas: technology solutions, custom mapping and analysis, land records and addressing, plus the Storm Water Services mapping program.  

He joined the County as director in 2021. Previously, Jai served as a GIS administrator for the Reedy Creek Improvement District at Walt Disney World in Florida.  

Jia holds a Bachelor of Science in geography from Nanjing University and a master’s in city and regional planning from Rutgers University. He is a certified geographic information systems (GIS) professional.
